What’s So Appealing About A Phone With A Big Screen?

Whether you are streaming series, watching clips on social media, or enjoying complex online games: Large smartphones ensure that you can always see everything shown. And when working, text documents and tables can be edited excellently on the vast displays. If you still have to zoom in here, you have too much work ahead of you.

In addition to the large display, these smartphones offer plenty of space for a massive battery. Accordingly, some giants last an exceptionally long time in everyday life.

However, if you are looking for handy devices, you are wrong with cell phones with large displays. Unless you have big hands, you often have to hold and serve the giants with both hands. A little getting used to at the beginning is every day. But then texts, videos, or websites can be used simultaneously thanks to the additional space.

But how big is big? Smartphone manufacturers keep raising the bar a little higher. A few years ago, 6.1 inches was considered significant. In the meantime, we have arrived at 6.6 or 6.7 inches. Accordingly, we have summarized all devices at least 6.7 inches here.

iPhone 14 Pro Max And 14 Plus

Apple is only partially true to the well-known naming scheme with the new generation. The iPhone 14 Pro Max retains the familiar Max title to reflect its size. And this is again an impressive 6.7 inches. These are framed in frosted Glass on the back and stainless steel sides.

The iPhone 14 Plus is new. This larger variant of the standard model comes in 6.7 inches. Glass and aluminum were installed here. Our separate article can also find all sizes of the iPhone 14.

The screens of both devices are OLED displays. The iPhone 14 Pro Max, even with up to 120 Hz, adapts to the content shown. However, both smartphones can always be convincing with colorful and razor-sharp images.

The battery life of the iPhone 14 Pro Max is up to 29 hours (video playback). The Plus model does not have to hide behind the Pro model here. Up to 26 hours of video playback are possible here. The main difference here is probably the new processor A16 Bionic installed in the iPhone 14 Pro Max  and the variable refresh rate.

The more expensive device is exciting for ambitious smartphone photographers. The Pro models offer a 48 MP primary camera for the first time. The iPhone 14 Plus uses 12 MP, like previous iPhones, which has given excellent results.

Samsung Galaxy A72

Although the Samsung Galaxy A72 is a mid-range smartphone, it comes with a 6.7-inch display. Thanks to AMOLED technology, solid colors, and sharp contrasts are also part of the overall package. The fast processor won’t let you down when using several apps simultaneously.

The Galaxy A72 can also convince with photos. The primary camera takes detailed snapshots in good lighting conditions. The telephoto lens offers a 3x optical zoom, giving you even more freedom when shooting.

OnePlus 10 Pro

The OnePlus flagship also offers a 6.7-inch display with OLED technology. In addition to rich contrasts and good colors, the device can also provide fantastic brightness. So you can see all content without problems, even in direct sunlight. 120 Hz ensures that videos and the like are displayed smoothly.

When it comes to cameras, the OnePlus 10 Pro uses three lenses. The primary camera has a theoretical resolution of 48 MP. However, as with many other flagships, pixel binning is used: four pixels are combined into one large pixel, which increases the light output. The results are much clearer, especially in darker environments. In addition to the primary camera, there is an ultra-wide angle with a whopping 50 MP and a telephoto lens with 8 MP.

Google Pixel 7 Pro

The Google Pixel 7 Pro measures 6.7 inches in screen diagonal. The tech giant behind the Android operating system relies on an OLED panel with QHD+ resolution. This means that the content shown is always sharp, and dark video scenes are dark. The displays are always smooth, thanks to a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.

Google uses a total of three camera modules on the back. A wide-angle with 50 MP, an ultra wide-angle with 12 MP, and a telephoto with 48 MP. The combination gives you the right lens in every situation to capture your subject appropriately. So that the device does not run out of breath, there is 5000 mAh in the battery.

Xiaomi 12 Pro

The ranks of our 6.7-inch smartphones end with the Xiaomi 12 Pro. Here, too, you get up to 120 Hz depending on the content displayed on the AMOLED display. The brightness, in particular, is convincing with this smartphone. Even in direct sunlight, everything remains legible.

As with many other competitors, you get a triple camera on the back of the Xiaomi 12 Pro. What is extraordinary is that both the wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle, and tele camera have a resolution of 50 MP. The differences in quality between the individual lenses are, therefore, minimal. And even the selfie camera has more MP than most of its competitors. Self-portraits are created with 32 MP.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

Samsung uses 6.8 inches for the Galaxy S22 Ultra, slightly above the new “maximum” for mainstream devices. Nevertheless, the machine remains operable and handy thanks to the S Pen integration. This is particularly evident during productive hours when the S Pen and display ensure smooth work. Only the weight of 228 g might be too heavy for some.

The battery is also designed for productivity and lasts a long time. A total of 5000 mAh effortlessly completes the day without a long charging break. Once the work is done, it’s time for fun and the four cameras on the back.

The primary camera with 108 MP, two telephoto lenses with up to 10x zoom, and an ultra wide-angle camera also convinced us in the Galaxy S22 Ultra test. You have to think carefully about the memory in advance. The S22 Ultra does not offer an option to expand the capacity via an SD card.

Motorola G9 Plus

Particularly cheap and huge: The Motorola G9 Plus. You get 6.8 inches here in combination with solid performance and a sharp display. The device could only do a bit more in terms of brightness. In direct sunlight, you have to make a few compromises in legibility.

However, you do not need to worry about the battery. The enormous mobile phone can be used for more than 16 hours online. Thanks to Fast Charging with up to 30 W, the 5000 mAh of the battery can also be recharged quickly.

Xiaomi Mi 11

Although the Xiaomi Mi 11 has a 6.81-inch display, it is easy to handle. This is mainly due to the 20:9 format and the relatively low weight for the size. The hand weighs only 195 g.

The smartphone is primarily aimed at video enthusiasts. Because the recording software contains numerous filters, effects, and the option to record in HDR10+, this abundance requires some training time. But those who deal with it can achieve cinematic results.

By the way: The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra also offers a 6.81-inch display. However, you get a slightly larger battery, faster-charging speed, and more RAM.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 5G

The largest smartphone is no longer a real smartphone. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 5G measures 7.6 inches diagonally when opened. This makes it almost a tablet and offers enough space for several apps and websites.

Compared to its predecessor, Samsung has improved the camera, which now delivers the results that we’ve expected from such a premium device. However, the selfie camera is not entirely convincing. Here it would help if you used the primary camera, which can also be used for self-portraits thanks to the folding mechanism.
